WELCOME!
I believe that no one should have to walk through this life alone. Everyone has a unique and beautiful story to tell, but it can be hard to make sense of it all without someone in your corner reflecting back truths about who you are. I love to empower youth and adults alike, reminding them of their inherent value as individuals and that they are capable of the change they dream of. I have taken the journey of finding freedom and self-understanding over the course of my own life. I believe my unique experiences have allowed me to join people in their hardest moments in a meaningful and beautiful way.
WHEN TO EXPECT WHEN WORKING WITH ME: Encouragement / Care / Support / Knowledge & Education
I believe there is freedom to be found in every person’s life. I offer that to my clients through gentle encouragement and truth. I find joy in helping my clients develop an understanding of their life story and how it has shaped them as individuals. I believe it’s important to know where you come from to be able to pursue who you want to become. I seek to cultivate a calming and understanding space for clients to feel heard and be reminded that they are not alone, and with bravery, they can pursue the life they wish to have. My goal is for every individual to better understand themselves, their lives, and their purpose.
I am dedicated to learning and growing alongside my clients and have spent significant time gaining knowledge, experience, and training to ensure my clients receive the best care. I strive to be a steady hand to hold and a gentle voice of encouragement for those navigating through hard times.
AREAS OF SPECIALTY:
Children, teens, young adults, and parents of “littles”. OCD, anxiety, identity work, issues of divorce and familial transition, women’s issues, story work, and confidence building. My favorite counseling modalities include Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Narrative Therapy. I also enjoy incorporating play in sessions with children through age-appropriate psychoeducation activities.
PERSONALLY:
I am happily married to my college sweetheart. I am a lover of home, community, and family. In my spare time, I dedicate time to my church, trying new restaurants and coffee shops with friends and family, and cuddle my golden retriever puppy. You can often find me sipping an iced latte, listening to a podcast, and spending time in the sun.
“Mackenzie brings youthful professionalism to our practice, keeping us older clinicians on our toes! As a person desiring excellence, she takes her job seriously and yet has contagious enthusiasm and joy in the big and small victories she witnesses in her therapy sessions. She is a student through and through and has developed an expertise in OCD, Anxiety, as well as working with children and parents. The humanity that I see expressed in Mackenzie is a sincere and deep empathy for all she encounters, and that is strongly sensed in her words and actions.” – AudrieAna Gardner, L2t Founder & Executive Director
